Originally from Scotland, Dr Benson completed her first degree in Physiology at the University of St Andrews and then went on to study Medicine at the University of Dundee graduating in 1999. In 2003 Dr Benson completed her GP training and gained membership to the Royal College of General Practitioners. She has since then continued to work as a GP both in the UK and New Zealand.
Dr Benson, along with her family first came to New Zealand in 2007, until returning to the UK in 2011. In 2017, Dr Benson and her family made the decision to make New Zealand their home, and have resided in Cambridge ever since.
She has a special interest in, Women’s Health, in particular Family Planning - including
IUD insertions and Mental Health.
